GE 2015 coming

I am really excited cause it will be my first time as a voter, so while before all the election fights and information were more like a movie to me where I will sit in front of the TV and watch the show XD

But this year being a vote I thought I should pay a little more attention to basics so I can make the informed vote. Not really much to do since from the start of the dawn the GRC I was in has always been governed by PAP. I think there were a few oppositions who came and tried but have successfully failed. This year its the boring show between PAP and WP and I do honestly think its quite obvious who will win. But thats just my opinion like who knows what will happen.

What I find the most interesting about this years' GE was that the oppositions holding meetings so that they could avoid pitting against each other in their attempt to throw the PAP over. Talking like the freedom fighters trying to overthrow the tyrannic government. What raised my brows was how each and every of the spokesperson for the oppositions all make it rather clear that their aim is to fight against PAP. They want to win against the PAP. The PAP is the big baddie here who needs to be defeated, so efforts should not overlap and resources should be compiled so the best attempt can be made. It makes it sounds like winning the election is like winning a competition where you are fighting against that champion who have been hogging the champion seat for too long and should be overthrown and replaced because they are the better ones and other rubbish.

What I think: Hey, if you are joining the election, shouldn't it be the case where you want to make a differences to the country you are in, and that you believe that the people should and can be better served by you, that's why they should vote for you? Therefore at the same time raising related policies that you think should be changed and proofs of why your policies is better than those by a bunch of old man who have been in their power seat for wayy too long? It feels like all they are doing is just thrashing the PAP, make PAP like the worse government that has ever existed and they themselves are so much more better than the PAP and therefore should be in place instead of PAP. Its like you are utterly useless and the only way you could hope to win is to thrash and bring your opponent down, and rally other keyboard warriors who are equally useless and only know how to thrash others to join you in your thrashing in that vain effort to hope to win the GE.

I do agree that the PAP had became complacent and have not been doing much for us. But the last GE sort of poured a huge pail of iced water on their head, telling them that they are not the only ones who can govern SG. But hey, overall they have done a pretty good job I would say. Considering the amount of limitations and constraint that SG has, its a pretty awesome job done. Can anyone really say how much they love SG this year during the Golden Jubilee if not for them? They really did try to do the best for each and every Singaporeans, especially the lower income group. And yes there are still problems and issues, but hey there is a limit to what the government can do. Will a welfare state help more seeing that welfare states are supposed to provide for the less fortunate? These poverty issues are still bad in welfare states, and the government suffers too from the huge amount of money required to sustain that welfare policy. Every policies has its pros and cons and I believe its weighted heavily before anything is implemented. No one owes you a living and I think Singaporeans have been too pampered by the government. Like spoilt kids wanting everything their way with the government trying hard to be compliant while keeping the country afloat.

The oppositions have their use, but isn't the ultimate aim the utmost benefit for all Singaporeans? The way the oppositions have been behaving makes me feel like they are opposing for the sake of opposing instead of trying to bring welfare to both the people and the country. So while watching the news and everything online regarding the GE, I kind of sincerely wish that the opposition will lose all the battles so they will go and learn the proper way of what the governing path should be.

Bahh didn't expect a long ramble just thought I should note down my thoughts for my first GE! The first is always exciting, I predict that I will find it a chore for the next ones hahahaa.

So, SG's Founding Father passed away this week.

I would callously say that this didnt come as a huge surprise. Simply because I have seen how frail he has become this past few years, and coupled with the increased amount of times he has been hospitalized and stuff. I thought I would not have any huge feelings over his passing, for the simple reason that I couldnt care less about politics. I cant be bothered with what the government do as long as it keep SG running and prosperous and blah blah. I believe that under the leadership of PAP we will continue to do relatively well. I couldnt be bothered to examined deep into the reason behind each and every law and policies passed but I believe that its for the good of SG. And that is what I do care and only care about.

Heck, even after I received news about his passing via insta where multiple people posted his photos and the various hashtags about remembering him, my first reaction was to yell across the house and ask my mom about it (more of a question under the assumption that she wouldnt know) and thinking to myself well its bout time I guess he has been really weak and sick. Kind of cold heartedly because I am kinda cold hearted.

But with the news broadcasting and all the social media websites spamming his stuff, I started crying for no goddamm reason, and has been continuing to do so for these past days whenever I see news about his passing and stuff he did and all those footages. Its so bewildering because I dont cry. The only time I cry is when I feel like I have been wronged and treated unfairly. Funniest part is when I cry even harder when I see news of him and his wife, while smiling at the same time like a retard.

I supposed I did care. Even if in the past I can comment callously to my mom that he is about to pass away when I see him on tv, all frail and weak. Even more so when his wife passed away. The crying feels wrong because I think he would be happy. His precious child is all grown and prosperous, looking to celebrate its golden jubilee year all thanks to his efforts. Majority of his life has been given to this precious child, now its time for him to truly enjoy the later years happily with his late wife.

All these sudden outburst all because of a photo on insta where a friend posted a photo I took. His name under the prime minister posting at his chair in the old parliament house. I remember how excited I was at sitting at that chair and telling my friend that I want to take a photo with it. Because this is the chair where one of the greatest man in Singapore has sat in while making major decisions for the young Singapore.

I wish I could go to the memorial. But I hate funerals. And I especially hate the part where you will get to pay respect to the dead by the coffin. No one will ever look at my blog except for me but I still wish to thank you, Mr Lee, for all that you have done and achieved on the behalf of all Singaporeans. Thank you.
